Our story

We believe puzzling can heal

Hobby Haven was born at Sheryl's Mini Cafe — a quiet table, a cup of tea, and a 1000-piece puzzle that changed everything.

How it all began

It started with burnout. Sheryl had been running her beloved cafe for years when the weight of it all caught up with her. A friend suggested she try puzzling — not as a pastime, but as a practice. Within weeks, something shifted.

The repetitive focus of sorting and placing pieces quieted the noise in her mind. The slow satisfaction of watching a picture emerge gave her a sense of progress when everything else felt overwhelming. She was hooked.  As an Ordained Interfaith Minister, Certified Coach and student of Art Therapy she knew she could help others.

She cleared a corner of the cafe, set up a puzzle table, and invited fellow coffee drinkers to join her. Word spread. The table grew. And puzzle therapy at Sheryl's Mini Cafe was born — a community built around the quiet, healing power of puzzling.  Whether online or meeting in person, one-on-one or small-group sessions, motivational coaching is available at this non-profit venture.

What we believe

Our philosophy

Process over perfection

A puzzle isn't about finishing fast. It's about the journey — the sorting, the searching, the small victories. We celebrate the process.

Therapy without barriers

You don't need a therapist's office or a prescription. A puzzle, a quiet space, and a little time is all it takes to begin.

Community as medicine

Puzzling together is one of the most naturally therapeutic things two people can do. We build community around that truth.

Slow is good

We live in a world that rewards speed. Puzzling is our gentle rebellion — a reminder that slow, focused attention is its own reward.
